In 2009, Landmark Consulting was hired by Historic Albany Foundation through a PreserveNY grant from the Preservation League of New York State to coordinate the survey of the Lower Washington Avenue area to develop a National Register District Nomination. The project involved the development research and documentation of approximately 30 properties dating between the 1810s and the 1960s. Project coordination included the oversight and direction of the efforts of two student interns, and ultimately the compilation of all research materials and documentation for the development of a draft National Register nomination. This work now serves as the basis for continued survey efforts by Historic Albany Foundation in anticipation of designating a larger Washington Avenue/Townsend Park Historic District.
